The research in title "A suggested programme to Arabic calligraphy for the department of first year teacher in the college of basic education" consists of four chapters. The first chapter talks about the problem of the research and its aims in addition to its significance. It also deals with the limit of the research and with the definition of the terms. The research aims to build a suggested programme to Arabic calligraphy for the department of first year teacher in the college of basic education/ university of Al-Mustansiriya/ for the three stages (first, second and third). The programme focuses on cognitive space and skillful application space. Chapter two includes the theoretical background while chapter three includes the research procedure. In chapter three the researcher concerns with building the suggested programme which is based on curriculum design bases and philosophical, psychological social and cognitive foundations which all the educationalists and curriculum designers agree on taking in consideration what meet the Iraq philosophy. The researcher has abided by basic elements of the programme (aims, content, method of aids, activities and correction style). The researcher has modelled (27) educational objective and (67) behavioural objectives for the programme in the light of the educational aims of the department of first year teacher. In the educational content. Care has been taken for the educational, cognitive and practical experiences of the Arabic calligraphy. All these element also contribute in the comprehensive development of future teacher. The program has suggested many methods to teach the Arabic calligraphy subject taking in consideration the subject needs and students' abilities. Many types of cognitive and practical (skillful) activities taken in the class and in home work of the material have been carried out. The researcher has used different methods of evaluation to be used in teaching in order to know the extent of the behavioural objective achievement. The content validity has been obtained by showing it do experts who are specialized in method of teaching filed and curriculum designers chapter four includes the results and recommendations which are: First, forming committee by curriculum design experts to study the suggested program of Arabic calligraphy in order to generalize the program to the colleges of basic education which have department first year teacher. Second, the ministry of higher education should coordinate with the colleges of basic education to prepare the student teacher a good preparation in Arabic calligraphy in the departments of first year teacher.
